Harris Begins Vietnam Trip Despite ‘Attacks’ on U.S. Diplomats

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris began her official visit to Vietnam on Wednesday in Hanoi, despite the “abnormal health incident” of U.S. diplomats that forced her to delay her trip to the Vietnamese capital the day before.

Harris’ plane left Singapore more than three hours later than scheduled and landed in Hanoi, Vietnam at 9:45 local time, where she was met by several representatives of the Vietnamese government and the U.S. embassy in the country.

U.S. official sources confirmed to NBC network, that at least two U.S. diplomats will have to be medically evacuated from Vietnam after experiencing these mysterious “acoustic incidents” this past weekend.

The U.S. government routinely refers to the mysterious “seizures” against U.S. diplomats first detected in Cuba in 2016 as an “anomalous health incident” whose origin is unknown, but which cause symptoms similar to brain injuries.

The vice president began her official agenda with a courtesy call to her Vietnamese counterpart, Vo Thi Anh Anh Xuan, and is scheduled to meet later with the country’s president, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and prime minister, Pham Minh Chinh, before co-chairing the inauguration of a disease control center for Southeast Asia in the afternoon.
