Police officer tries to arrest suspect… gets hit by his truck

The moment a National Police officer was run over by a driver in Taulabé, Comayagua, central Honduras, while trying to make an arrest was recorded on video.

The incident happened last night at a gas station, located in the neighborhood of Los Almendros, CA 5 Highway, municipality of Taulabé, where the police patrol arrived, while the vehicle was filling the gas tank.

According to the police report, this individual was driving recklessly in a white Toyota car, with license plates PCC 5149, and when the agent tried to apprehend him, he ran into him, leaving him unconscious.

He then fled in the car and was chased by the authorities for about 30 minutes; during the pursuit, he crashed into the wall of a school and fled on foot.

In the meantime, the agent was taken to the Red Cross for medical attention; however, he had no serious injuries or fractures. He was then taken to the IHSS for medical studies to rule out internal injuries, fortunately, he is recovering satisfactorily.

For his part, the subject was captured by the authorities this Monday and responds to the name of Luis Miguel Peñalva Cruz (49), originally from Siguatepeque and resident of the neighborhood of El Carmen in Taulabé.

“He committed three offenses, the most serious of which is reckless driving and having assaulted our colleague”, said inspector Edgardo Herrera.
