In the Krasnoyarsk region, Russia, police solved a case of theft in which some jewelry worth nearly 3 million rubles ($40,000) was stolen in a matter of minutes. The shoes and fingerprints left by the thief at the crime scene helped identify him.
The audacious theft was committed in the district of Solnechny. The intruder broke the window of the jewelry salon, entered the premises, and stole the jewelry. The total amount of damage was about 2.9 million rubles.
Police investigators arrived at the scene shortly after the burglary. At the scene, the police found a footprint and some fingerprints. After a dactylographic examination, the identity of the suspect was established. He turned out to be a 28-year-old guy, previously involved in criminal proceedings.
The young man was arrested and the stolen items were seized from him and returned to the legitimate owner.
The man now faces up to 10 years in jail. He is being held in custody as a preventive measure.
