BARCELONA, Spain – In Barcelona, Spain, a fire broke out at the Coronado hotel, leaving at least nine people injured, one in critical condition and two in very serious condition after two of them jumped from the third-floor windows of the building to save themselves from the flames.
According to the Barcelona Fire Department, twelve teams of members of the Guardia Urbana, several ambulances of the Emergency Medical System (SEM), and Mossos d’Esquadra, moved to the scene to assist in the incident, where they rescued some trapped people and extinguished the flames.
The fire started at 1 p.m. local time and was originated in one of the rooms on the third floor of the hotel Coronado, located in Barcelona. Some minutes later, those responsible at the hotel alerted the firefighters of developing fire in the building.
Via social media, several videos of the incident were distributed, where it was observed how the fire began to come out of the room on the third floor, causing a large smoke.
While the emergency services arrived, neighbors and staff of the Coronado hotel in Barcelona placed several mattresses and some sofas on the floor outside the place in order to help the people inside who could not get out in time jump and escape from the windows.
