A large explosion in a local has shaken the small town of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, located in the French Pyrenees.
The great explosion has caused the death of at least 7 people, including two children.
Neighbors in the area heard a loud explosion at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday and quickly notified the emergency services.
All the evidence points to a fire that has affected several neighboring homes in the area as the cause of the explosion. According to the French outlet L’Independent, an investigation has been opened to determine whether the origin of the fire was caused or, on the contrary, was an accident.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has interrupted his scheduled trip to Montpellier to visit the area where the tragic event took place.
