MONSTER – Sexual predator arrested for allegedly grooming over 100 kids

A 24-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after a monthslong investigation revealed he had been posing as a young girl to speak with other dozens of children on the internet to get them to produce child sexual abuse material, Sacramento County officials said.

Demetrius Carl Davis was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on charges relating to lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, jail records show. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in a video release said more than 80 victims were identified across the United States and there may be several more internationally.

Davis is believed to have used the moniker “Lizzy” to lure children and groom them, the sheriff’s office said.

“After establishing a relationship with the child, Davis would direct them to produce child pornography, depicting themselves engaging in sexual acts with their siblings and other children known to them,” Sacramento County Sheriff’s spokesperson Rodney Grassmann said in the video release.

The sheriff’s office said its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an online account suspected of uploading child sexual abuse material online.

Investigators searched Davis’ home in Sacramento County on Dec. 1, 2021, the sheriff’s office said. There, several screen recordings were found on Davis’ digital devices showing children “engaged in sexual acts.” This included his phones and numerous social media accounts he used to communicate with children.

The sheriff’s office said it has identified more than 80 children, their ages typically ranging from 6 to 13 years old, across the country as victims. And with the estimated 15 other children Davis is believed to have communicated with in other parts of the world, the sheriff’s office said the Department of Homeland Security is assisting with that part of the investigation.

The sheriff’s office believes Davis has communicated with “well over 100 children” between late 2020 and December 2021.

The sheriff’s office is encouraging parents and guardians to check their children’s devices to see if they have been contacted by a “Lizzy.”

Davis is not allowed to post bail and will be due in court this Thursday.
